Tag Your MP3 Files For Better Organization

I am no way a music buff but still because of my friends and relatives I keep a fine collection of MP3 songs. Recently I was surfing through all the MP3 CDs I have and I guess I have more than 1000 songs! Gosh..1000. Although I am still able to find the song which I need (IF I remember the album to which it belongs, which I mostly don’t) I am afraid what will happen when another zero is added to the number 1000. And with the DVD writer installed plus a new 160 GB HDD (added to the already installed 120 GB HDD) it won’t take much time before I am hit with that number. Now I had to find out a way to organize my MP3 collection in a better manner than it is currently. I searched through the Internet and stumbled upon Tag&Rename. This could well be the first step in organizing your MP3 collection.
If you view the properties of an MP3 file you will notice information such as song title, artist name, album, genre and year. This information is collectively called an ID3 tag. Remember it is the ID3 tag which makes the MP3 player identify songs so as to sort music by artist name, album, song title, genre and year.
Tag&Rename will automate the process of tagging multiple files in one shot (else if you have the potential than you can tag the 10000+ MP3 songs manually using your keyboard..if you can!) . The program will offer 3 modes - “Get tags from file name”, “Multiple file tag editor” and “Rename files”. The interface is easy and hence it won’t take much time getting used to it.
Do use the “Test” button to preview the results before you proceed.
