Save Space By Reserving Less Space For Recycle Bin

Although these days memory size isn’t any big deal still in many cases where people are using their legacy computers memory problems keep popping up. We once taught you how you can turn off the low disk notification message but sometimes you would actually want to recover some free space from your hard disk. Yes you have an option left which you haven’t yet touched.

By default your Windows XP saves 10% of your hard disk space for Recycle Bin. If you reduce this to 1% then you can save up to 3Gb of space considering you have a 40 Gb HDD. Even though this looks to be one of the very easy methods (it is DAMN easy) still believe me, rarely my friends used to pay attention to this.

Right-click on recycle bin and click on properties on the menu which pops up. The window shown below shows up:

You have the option to set different sizes for different drives or set same size for all the drives. I prefer to set the same size for all the drives so as to avoid confusions. Change your default 10% to 1% but remember to remove all the necessary files from the recycle bin before you perform this change.

Take my advice and better NOT leave any important data in your recycle bin ever. Who knows when someone cleans it up and you loose your all nights work just because you were lazy restoring it from your recycle bin.
