Convert All MS Office Files To MS Office 2007 Format In One Go

You have been using MS office since ages and now you have loads of MS office documents (word, powerpoint, excel) in your computer which are in the older format (something other then MS Office 2007) then you must have faced compatibility problems while opening those documents in Office 2007. Although many times documents will open up but the formatting will be broken.

In such cases either you can convert each document to MS Office 2007 format manually or use some software and save your precious time. Well, I am sure you won’t need instructions if you plan to convert them manually so here I will prefer to talk about Migration Manager which can be used to convert all your older documents to the latest MS Office 2007 format.

Firstly, download and install the Migration Manager in your system.

Then open the directory [path] \ tools (where path is that directory path where you have installed Migration Manager). Now open ofc.ini in notepad and add this line to the file.

fldr=[path where your older documents are stored]

Open Command Prompt and go to [path]\tools (where [path] is that directory path where you have installed Migration Manager). Now run the application ofc.exe which you will find in the tools directory.

All the files will be converted to the latest MS Office 2007 format and saved to a new folder. Remember that files which you have password protected won’t be converted with this method.

Using this utility you can convert:

  • doc to docx
  • xls to xlsx
  • ppt to pptx
