Twi5 – The Ultimate Hub For Twitter Apps

I haven’t been too active on Twitter but recently started to tweet regularly (Follow Me) and since then I have discovered multiple twitter crazy web masters. @NischalShetty is one such twitter user who runs Twi5, a website dedicated entirely to twitter apps. It is a must visit for every twitter user (new or old) who wants to discover twitter apps that would make his tweeted life way more simpler and exciting. Twi5 has an alexa rank of around 75000 which is enough to explain the kind of traffic which this website is grabbing. I was surprised with the amount of twitter apps which this website has collected from around the Internet. People truly are twitter crazy!

Though Twi5 features some of the best apps collection yet I think there are many area in which Nischal needs to work. Let me jot down few of them:

  • With 9000+ followers on twitter, Twi5 deserves a new and improved logo.
  • The word “Beta” in the current logo. Gmail was tagged as beta for many years and I guess that was the time when many of us learned what actually beta is! Unfortunately, the word ‘beta’ was overhyped and almost every website started to use it. Though the word beta won’t kick back any of the Twi5′s readers but I really don’t see any reason why every other website should use it.
  • Hey Twi5 has a blog too! But, i don’t see any mentions of the Twi5 blog on the Twi5 website? I came to know about this blog from Twi5 twitter page. Not every reader will digg down this much and henceforth most will never come to know about Twi5 blog. So, it needs a mention on Twi5.com’s homepage.
  • Won’t it be great if the blog is integrated with the current website so that the traffic count of Twi5 website and “Twi5 blog on blogspot” merges? It will truly work as booster for Twi5.

Lastly, a great website which needs few more touch ups from an experienced webmaster. By the way, where did you get that domain from? ;)

P.S. This is NOT a paid review. Nischal wanted me to check his website and tell my readers about the same and I did so!

Thanks for the review Salman! Appreciate your suggestions.

    1. I designed the logo myself and you can guess I’m not a designer :( A few nice people have volunteered to design a new logo (I’m open to all sending their twi5 logo), let’s hope something nice comes up!

    2. I tagged my site beta because I have a lot of plans for it. Currently, I’m trying to build SuperTwi which would start with a basic twitter follow-unfollow app and would hopefully grow to put on more features (the site wud be at my.twi5.com). It is due to these plans that I prefer keepin twi5 in beta (see.. even the logo isn’t nice, its buggy, it’s so beta :D )

    3. The twi5 blog is a bit irregular. I do not want twi5 users to be pointed to a blog that doesn’t update regularly :-) Nevertheless, the link will soon be on the main site!

twi5 – thats giving a high five on twitter. When you find a new twitter app that rocks you give the author a twi5 ;o) Thts how the name happened!
