Warner Bros. Giving Out Movies On Rent Via Facebook

Although this might not shake Netflix’s position in market yet Warner Bros. is in full mood to grab some quick dollars from the ever growing community of Facebook. In a latest press release Warner Bros. has confirmed that the Facebook users will be able to watch movies from the Facebook fan page of the company once they pay 30 facebook credits which is equivalent to $3.

The first in line is The Dark Knight which should be available by now or tomorrow. Though the company hasn’t revealed the quality of the videos that will be available but with the price being charged I am guessing that it should be normal SD quality.

The service will be available for Facebook users in United States only. Users will have the ability to watch the movie within 48 hours after the day of purchase. Users will have the ability to pause the movie and log out of Facebook. They can log back into Facebook and enjoy the movie again till the deadline of 48 hours crosses.

“Facebook has become a daily destination for hundreds of millions of people,” said Thomas Gewecke, President of Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. “Making our films available through Facebook is a natural extension of our digital distribution efforts. It gives consumers a simple, convenient way to access and enjoy our films through the world’s largest social network.”
