How Xbox 360 Kinect helped me pass my time!

I recently got the chance to enjoy Xbox 360 Kinect in a nearby store when I was waiting for a friend. The store had least number of customers as it was weekday and bright daylight. Though I had heard a lot about Xbox 360 Kinect and seen a lot of videos but I never had the chance to enjoy this for real.

What I Like About Xbox 360 Kinect?

The full body sensor of Xbox 360 Kinect was amazing while the controller free motion gaming is ofcourse attractive. The games that are part of Xbox 360 Kinect will keep you on your toes and it is impossible to fool the system. Also, the voice control of Xbox 360 Kinect was pretty interesting.

What I Dislike About Xbox 360 Kinect?

It needs a lot of space. I mean it! Any store that wants its customers to enjoy Xbox 360 Kinect live will surely have to keep aside a lot of space for the motion gaming console just because its requires a lot of movement. Navigation at times can get weird in Xbox 360 Kinect. Most of the games are stand-up games so you might get tired a bit quickly. Also, it surely isn’t for hard-core gamers.

Summarizing my brush with Xbox 360 Kinect

Well, my friend hopped in just in time to break my honeymoon with motion gaming but I did get enough time to understand why Xbox 360 Kinect attracted a section of gamers and repelled the other section. Xbox 360 Kinect is good for daily game parties and for those who feel like doing light workout without leaving the comfort of their homes. It could be good for kids as it will keep them active but you got to be cautious as they might end up jumping around unnecessarily.

On the other hand Xbox 360 Kinect is strictly a no no for hard-core gamers who are madly in love with high end games. To cut long things short - Xbox 360 Kinect is simply amazing even if it has a learning curve. By the way, you got to have big living rooms to play such motion games comfortably.

Recently a friend of mine asked me to list some of the best ubuntu games and I was quick to pass on the link to my article on best linux games that I wrote some time back. What I received in return was the typical ‘techy kinda reply’. Lame games is what he said (bloody linux penguin!!). Though I did grumble on him for some time yet later on I had to work hard to search for the best linux games that will actually give you the feel of extreme linux gaming. After all I am a blogger and I have to live up to everyone’s expectations. I do the hard work, compile the article and these so-called geniuses won’t even leave a comment of appreciation once they benefit from the article! Enough of the frustration, let’s us talk about the best linux games that will actually make your system feel extra happening.

Urban Terror

Urban Terror is totally free and one of the best linux game that you might ever get to see. It is based on the concept of Quake 3 (and most of the other similar rps games). The interface has been designed with the notion ‘ultra simplicity’ being kept in mind very seriously. Looks like they knew that linux should never ever have the ultimate games that we most of the time see (kidding ).

Nexuiz

Nexuiz is one more game in the list of best linux games that can give a good fight to some of the major FPS games. It is an awesome 3D game built on quake engine which is available for most of the platforms. It is famous for the huge list of weapons that it features and the great speed that it provides for its players.

Savage 2 – A Tortured Soul

So, are you WoW lover? If you don’t know what is WoW (which is World of Warcraft) then this game will be true surprise for you and if you already know WoW then you will feel relieved that those exciting features are also available in linux too. Savage 2 is truly one of the best linux game available. This game is the best possible mix of RTF and FPS which is rarely available on linux. Fight on!

Alien Arena

Alien Arena is for those gamers who love first person shooter games. The game takes use of the features available in quake 3 plus unreal tournament and boasts of its own unique features which makes the game ultra exciting. This freeware game actually beats all the possible shit out of you

Warzone 2100 Resurrection

Mankind has totally destroyed the planet and your job is to command the forces so as to rebuild what has been turned to ashes. The game has around 400 technologies to keep you busy. You ain’t gonna be bored that easily.

Go penguins go!

Though there might not be huge games available for Linux when compared with Windows yet sometimes size does not matter. Best Linux Games that we have collected below aren’t huge in size but have every possible potential to push you towards the limits of craziness from where you will see the game only! Rest of world looks to be alien once you are addicted to these games. Without bragging much let me talk about the best linux games that you must try once.

ALSO: Best Linux Games To Make Your Computer A PowerHouse

XWELLTRIS

Tetris has been one of the most famous games on computer and mobiles since years. Xwelltris is a 3d game which is actually like a cube of tetris with the top section missing. Bricks in this free game come from the top and your job is to settle them down on floor. Be sure to jugde your decision so that you don’t mess up the stuff. Your real job is to make rows on the bottom floor but if you fill up the floor then the bricks start locking the side walls slowly. And once a wall gets locked then no brick falls from that wall. The game gets tougher as you complete various rows. Go! Check your expertise.

Download Xwelltris

Armagetron

Have you seen the movie Tron? Remember the lightcycle sequence from that movie? This free game is a 3D version which emulates the safe sequence on your screen. It has bots with AI, unique graphics, HUD, and playing arena of course. If you assume yourself to be an advanced player then the game has multiple modes and tones of physics settings to confuse you.

Download Armagetron

Freeciv

This game seems to have been inspired from the history of human civilization and is built on the empire building strategy. The game will start from pre-historical period and your job will be to lead your tribe to space age from the pre-historic page. It can be played on LAN and upto 30 players can play the game at one time. It has multiple pre-made maps for your to fight your way through. Another awesome linux game to enjoy!

Download Freeciv

gBrainy

As the name suggests, this free linux game is made to tease your brain and push it to the extreme of complexities so that it keeps working whenever you are playing the game. It has logic puzzles, mental calculations, and memory trainers. This free linux games has many levels thus making it suitable for kids as well as for adults.

Download gBrainy

Pingus

Though the homepage of pinugs will look pretty simple yet the game is complex enough to make you an addict. It is a real time strategy game in which you are asked to guide penguins through various levels. You can assign various tasks to different penguins so that they can cross different obstacles. The game is based on a storyline and has around 22 levels that you will have to cross. Good Luck!

Download Pingus

P.S. Most of the games are compatible with Linux, Mac, and Windows too!

These girls are sexy, they’re hot and they have an instant drooling effect on any human male, level 15-80, who is watching them. These are the same girls who made you love them the way only a game-geek can love: truly, madly, deeply. However, they have one big flaw: they are game characters. They are not real, they are just a bunch of sexy pixels hugging each other, with only one goal in mind: to be perfect. And, boy, they’re really successful on that matter!

And now, let’s face it: we know they’re as real as Jack Thompson’s love for video games or GTA: Vice City’s multiplayer mode, but it crossed our minds a few times already that it would’ve been the coolest thing on Earth if they had been made of flesh and blood. Hell, let’s be honest to the end: we would’ve loved it if these girls had been ours and only ours, so help us God!

However, there is still one problem nobody has ever thought about: if these beautiful game characters got a real life tomorrow, would they really be the perfect company for our poor, geeky souls? We’ve not-so-randomly picked six of the best known and appreciated game heroines and judged them from a real-life perspective. We were shocked and scared. Let the countdown begin!

The site has simple, well-classified content to browse through – read about, develop, and discuss mods. Check out galleries of in-game screenshots and details about the games as well as the mod used. Register if you want to download and be part of the growing community.

Loads of mods, skin, maps, models, other files for most popular games are available for download. If you’re bored of playing the same old maps for multiplayer games like Counter-Strike, then why not make a one on your own? There is a good number of tutorials (basic / intermediate / advanced) and help for creating mods, maps, skins, models, and various other gaming elements to feed your hunger for more fun. Also listed are the tools that were used for creating the mods.

If you want to develop mods along with an elite group of developers, join groups such as Source Developers or Valve – or start your own. And if you’ve made a mod on your own, submit it along with a tutorial. Discuss your mod-creation problem with other members … this is a very focused site!
