All those bloggers out there should be excited to know that Google is testing hard the totally newer looking version of Google AdSense which gives a closer understanding to what you are earning. Google AdSense won’t be about numbers only but you will get to see lots of graphs henceforth this will help you analyze your earnings and the amount of clicks that you get.

Those who just can’t resist the wait for Google’s New AdSense interface can apply for being a beta tester who gets the sneak peak into the new version of Google AdSense. All you got to do is fill this form. You must understand that you got to be a registered AdSense user for being a beta tester. Nobody will let you test any kind of AdSense versions untill and unless you are well aware with the current version. Pretty obvious, eh?

If you get to enjoy the newer version of AdSense then do let us know how it looks.

Google Chrome did experience huge response initially but most of that was just out of curiosity. People did downloaded Google Chrome madly during the first two weeks but that was because they wanted to experiement with the new browser and the hype that was created around it.

Those days are gone and now its time for Google to use its own services to promote Google Chrome and they have started to do that very well.

Google has started to use the huge base of Orkut so as to increase the number of Google Chrome users. See the image above? They have found a cool way to suggest orkut users to download Google Chrome.

You seen any other place where Google is promoting Chrome?

Google News has Google AdSense ads in it. Google Search has Google AdSense ads in it. Blogspot brings in blogs which use Google AdSense ads. Orkut has Google AdSense ads being displayed with them. Gmail displays Google AdSense ads and officials at Google complain how they are losing $110 million every year just because people use their ‘I’m Feeling Lucky Button.

What do you think I am trying to point out when I was citing the examples above? If you haven’t guessed it then I was trying to communicate how every Google product which actually receives huge Google backing is somehow related to making money. Although Google’s policy is to work on the product and then search for money making ways but if that product doesn’t looks like it will bring money then it backs off from supporting the product.

So, what benefits will Google Chrome bring in for Google? No monetary benefits as they will be handling millions of downloads and constantly working on the browser to keep it bug free but their are some indirect benefits which will surely keep pinching Google to constantly improve Google Chrome. Some of those benefits could be:

Most of the people will make Google Search as their default search engine and this will help increase Google’s Searching user base. But isn’t Firefox also giving Google as default search engine? then, in this case it will be Microsoft’s Internet Explorer which will feel the heat.

Although you won’t be able to install Google Toolbar with Google Chrome but most of the features of Google Toolbar can be incorporated with Google Chrome without hassles. Hence, it helps Google expand the base that uses its toolbar.

Google loves to gather users searching data and Google Chrome is quick to send to Google what we search along with our IP address. Google Chrome will add more juice to Google’s database which is enough to reveal what I search daily using Google. Darn!

PageRank! Some say it is dead and some say it isn’t. Well, after Google Chrome it might get little easier for Google to increase the importance of PageRank as they will be able to gather data quickly. Just a guess..

Lastly, Google Chrome helps Google take another step towards being the only company which will rule the Internet in the time to come.

Remember that time when many online privacy related legal institutions stood up against Google and as a result Google was forced to stop storing user’s details for longer periods. Google announced that now they will be storing the various user details (what you search for, your IP address, your email ID etc.) for just two years. Somehow, Google thought that the waves of that issue might have died down by now but that wasn’t and everything seems to have popped up once again when someone from Google told CNET News that Google will be storing 2 percent of the data which includes your IP address and whatever you type in browser’s Omnibox even if you didn’t hit the enter key.

In a nutshell, if Google is your default search engine in Google Chrome (which is mostly the case) then whatever you type in the address bar will be stored in Google’s servers along with your IP address.

If you think that Google didn’t inform you about this then I will request you to read what this short and sweet line in the End User License Agreement (EULA).

“By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.”

Shocked? Even I was but this what the hidden meaning of Don’t Do Evil for Google.

If you don’t want Google to store what you are searching for but still you want to continue with Google Chrome then either you can switch to Google Chrome’s Incognito mode (which hides your online presence) or else turn-off the auto suggest feature of Google Chrome. You can even stop using Google Search and move to Yahoo! search or Live Search but I guess these aren’t worth trying when compared to Google.

Well, I am sure by now you must be very well familiar with the independent tabs feature of Google Chrome. As per this feature if some tab in your Google Chrome window hangs or crashes then it won’t result in the complete Google Chrome Window crashing. This feature was hyped a lot before and after the launch of Google Chrome.

Everyone said that this revolutionary feature of Google Chrome was unique when compared to the other competitive brothers and sisters. No, its not!

Google chrome is said to be fighting (and curbing down) Internet Explorer 8 but somehow they have copied the independent tabs feature from IE 8 itself. The process model of IE8 is given below.

For automatic crash recovery IE8 implements the tab isolation feature and Microsoft website describes the tab isolation feature as:

If a website or add-on causes a tab to crash in Internet Explorer 8, only that tab is affected. The browser itself remains stable and other tabs remain unaffected, thereby minimizing any disruption to your browsing experience.

And you thought you were experiencing something revolutionary?

Still, after testing Chrome, I have to say I like it and will use it–for personal use. It fits well with the way I use the Internet. In the corporate world, however, I suspect that Chrome will have more difficulty being accepted.

This is what Mike Schaffner had to say in his article for Forbes. As per Mike Google Chrome might have many unique features which others don’t but it is hard to believe that IE will be totally kicked out of the market.

The only advantage which IE seems to have is that it has become a very old browser in the industry and it has become hard for huge organizations to actually give up the use of IE and implement some other third party browser in all their systems.

For the general public too their could be some downsides like those who love to play games in MSN will have to face this warning in Google Chrome.

“Important Note: Your browser or operating system does not meet the minimum requirements to play on MSN Games. You may be able to download games for offline play; however, the online games can be played only with Internet Explorer version 6 or later, and Windows 2000 or later.”

It is clear that various blogs might be chattering about Google Chrome and it might have hit 2 million downloads in first two weeks but life isn’t going to be that easy for this new browser. Tough road ahead Mr. Chrome.

It is huge!

Marissa Mayer, Google’s VP of search products and user experience reveals some interesting facts about Google and its SERP. Mayer once asked Google co-founder Sergey Brin how Google had settled on the clean, white design of its home page. “We didn’t have a Webmaster and I don’t do HTML,” Brin replied. Funny ain’t it?

If you don’t know yet, than let me tell you that in early days of Google’s homepage testing, people used to wait for a minute or more as they expected the page to load. Surfers those days were accustomed to flashy pages and expected the same out of Google’s plain and simple home page. Same is the reason why Google’s home page has a copyright notice in its footer. It informs the viewer that the page has loaded and they may start surfing.

We also have a couple a nice collection of Google’s hidden pages.

Almost every website (or to be precise those websites which are a established company in itself) on Internet has its Terms Of Service (TOS) which as per the laws must be followed by its users or else the company holds the right to kick that user off its website or drag him/her to court!

Similarly Google has some surprising lines in its TOS:

“You may not use … Google’s products, software, services and web sites … and may not accept the Terms if … you are not of legal age to form a binding contract with Google.

Surprised? Unfortunately this is true. It means if your are under 18 (as that is the legal age in almost every country today) then you are NOT permitted to use Google search, YouTube, Orkut, Google News, Google Images etc. This fact was found out by Chris on Cnet and he goes on to reveal some more exciting (or funny) facts on Google’s part.

This is what he writes:

When contacted about the matter, a Google spokesperson initially told me that “users need to be at least 13 years old to use Gmail.”

However, when I pointed out that the language in the company’s terms of service contradicted her statement, she clarified her remarks, stating that: “We require users to be able to form a legally binding contract in order to use our services. The actual age required to form a legally binding contract may differ based on jurisdiction.”

When I asked what the company would do if it found out that someone under 18 were using search, or Gmail, the spokesperson told me:

“We’re not in a position to verify the age or legal status of any user, given the tremendous number of users accessing Google services. That said, when we become aware of a user who is violating our Terms of Service, including not being of proper age to accept the Terms of Service, we take appropriate action, which could include the termination of the user’s Google Account.”

After first seeing Google’s no-kids policy in the company’s terms of service, any rational person would assume that it’s just standard legalese that all companies are required to include. However, it turns out that Google’s dot-com competition is far more kid friendly.

What I want to ask is do you ever care to read what any TOS says and do you ever follow that? It is good on companies part to say that “You must be X years of age to use our service” but how is the company verifying specially when Google isn’t linking to its TOS from its homepage?

How about a male blogger writing a TOS saying “If you are female then you agree to come with me on a date once you have visited my site?”

Looks like Google people need to take help from a drug treatment center to come out of their dreams.
