WordPress 2.7 Will Finally Have Automatic Update Feature

This is something that most of us have been waiting for but I just don’t know why people behind WordPress never included the Automatic Updates feature in their earlier versions.

Their was a time when I was so much afraid of upgrading WordPress manually or using some plugin which will help me upgrade WordPress automatically that I didn’t upgrade WordPress for 1 year straight. It was a month back that somehow I decided to use DreamHost’s One Click WordPress update feature and voila! It took hardly took me 2 minutes to upgrade my WordPress to the latest version.

Still, for those who don’t use DreamHost as their hosting company and for those who are afraid of upgrading WordPress manually, this new feature of Automatic WordPress Upgrade will surely be a life saver.

You can check the list of all the features of WordPress 2.7 here.

FireFox 3.0.3 Released 3 Days After 3.0.2

Three days after the release of FireFox 3.0.2 a new update has been launched. FireFox 3.0.3 is all set to be used. Somehow, in previous release users couldn’t retrieve saved passwords or save new passwords. Although I was also using the same release but I didn’t face any problems.

I am sure some out there might have faced this problem of not able to recover saved passwords and hence for them FireFox 3.0.3 becomes a must download. Mostly, your FireFox will update itself on its own but if it dosen’t then I guess you should do it manually so that your passwords are remembered.

Features of 3.0.3 which are common with 3.0.2 are:

  • Fixed several theme issues that affected right-to-left locales.
  • Fixed several stability issues.
  • Fixed a number of minor issues with the layout of certain web pages.
  • Official releases for Sinhala and Slovene are now available.
  • Beta releases for Bengali, Galician, Hindi, Icelandic, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, and Thai are available for testing.
  • Add new Extended Validation (EV) roots to Firefox 3.0.2.
  • Fixed several hangs and crashes that occurred when using screen readers.

Google Chrome Hits 2 Million Downloads In US Itself

Google Chrome Logo Are you in USA and did you see the Thank You page which is displayed after the download of Google Chrome is complete? If yes then you are amongst the first 2 million who actually saw that Thank You page within the first 7 days after the launch of Google Chrome.

As per Nielsen, from all the users who used Internet last week in US about 1.4% of those Internet surfers downloaded Google Chrome. I guess that is huge success for some a newly launched browser. Remember that many of those users might have downloaded Google Chrome just to check how the new browser behaves. I am sure that many shifted to their default browsers after chroming for couple of hours.
