WordPress 2.7 Will Finally Have Automatic Update Feature

This is something that most of us have been waiting for but I just don’t know why people behind WordPress never included the Automatic Updates feature in their earlier versions.

Their was a time when I was so much afraid of upgrading WordPress manually or using some plugin which will help me upgrade WordPress automatically that I didn’t upgrade WordPress for 1 year straight. It was a month back that somehow I decided to use DreamHost’s One Click WordPress update feature and voila! It took hardly took me 2 minutes to upgrade my WordPress to the latest version.

Still, for those who don’t use DreamHost as their hosting company and for those who are afraid of upgrading WordPress manually, this new feature of Automatic WordPress Upgrade will surely be a life saver.

You can check the list of all the features of WordPress 2.7 here.

WordPress 2.7 Will Feature Enhanced Navigation Options

WordPress has evolved immensly in last couple of years and its new version will present another exciting look which most of us will cherish.

The WordPress team has taken the suggestion of various bloggers seriously and they are currently working on the left-hand navigation system for WordPress Dashboard. The work is still under progress and their were no hints about the release of WordPress 2.7. Hopefully, it will be released soon.

Till then you can let your word count in the next WordPress version by taking this survey and leaving your replies. Who knows if your suggestion becomes the next most talked about feature of wordpress!

WordPress 2.6.2 Released, Must Be Upgraded

You have open registration enabled in your WordPress blog? If yes, then you must upgrade your WordPress to the newly released 2.6.2. A bug in WordPress 2.6.1 and earlier can help a malicious user to reset some user’s password to a random password. Although this random password won’t be revealed to the malicious user still it can be annoying when someone finds his password changed.

However, this bug when coupled with the weakness of random number generator in mt_rand() function could result in guessing of password. Althought the attack isn’t easy to perform but why take risk? It will hardly take 5 minutes for you to upgrade your wordpress.

I don’t have open registration in my blog still I have upgraded my wordpress as it required just one click from my DreamHost panel.
