Though blackberry is one of the most famous phones around yet most of its users aren’t aware with the possibilities that this palmtop holds with itself. One can know the real signal strength with the use of simple cheat code which isn’t available with the default settings of your blackberry. You can even track the signal problem in your blackberry using this trick. Similarly, blackberry does let you delete your call logs by the click of few buttons but it does hold a cheat code using which you will discover that blackberry is still storing your call logs without you being aware of the same.

In order to view the log files of your blackberry phone all that you got to do is reach out to your blackberry home screen, hold the alt key and press the keys LGLG (in that order) while the alt key is pressed. In case you use Blackberry storm then please display your keyboard in portrait view and hold the number key so as to lock the number keyboard. Now press ,5,5 (in that order) to check the hidden phone logs.

Please be adviced that one needs to delete the call history from the hidden blackberry debug logs as this log isn’t cleared even when you manually delete the history of your phone after removing the SIM card. You must be aware that you aren’t actually deleting your traces unless the blackberry debug logs are cleared. And you cannot turn of this logging.

Also, you can select menu key from your log section of blackberry and then select clear log to clear these hidden logs. You can even clear all the possible logs by going to message inbox and then press alt – P. Keep trying untill you are rest assured that you have deleted all your traces.

I hardly published any articles on CompuWorld during January, February and March. This did bring down the traffic a little and hence my major goal was to restore the traffic when the blogging bug re-bit me some 2 weeks back. I tried every possible way that I could in this short span of time which I had. I published multiple posts in a day, I started to tweet regularly (follow me in twitter), published some list articles, tried to cash in using the StumbleUpon traffic and what not? But, it didn’t take much time when the 2.5 years of my blogging experience started to kick my brain. It started to pinch me regularly and once again I was forced to stick to the basics. Content Is The King! I agree that proper marketing is necessary to publicize your quality articles but only marketing isn’t necessary to drag more and more traffic to your website.

SU SU Everywhere

We have read so many times about experts trying to break the StumbleUpon algorithm so as to grab exponential traffic from this mesmerizing service but hardly did anybody succeed. As of now everyone knows the same basic thoughts that point towards making your profile as Power Stumbler profile so that you can capture more traffic from your own stumbles. Do some googling and you will end up reading multiple articles that tell you the same stuff over and over again.

Regularly use the StumbleUpon toolbar, do review the sites which are worth your review, and regularly vote for the sites that come across you. The more you use the StumbleUpon toolbar the stronger your profile becomes.

But, what do I do with that power user profile of mine? I know of cases where a weak StumbleUpon user will submit a page of his website and if that page gets a couple of thumbs up then the page gets going. It hardly matters if that user had 100 stumbles or 1000 stumbles. Secondly, there are cases when a page submitted by a power stumbler won’t persist much amongst the StumbleUpon users as others might not like it much. As far as I am concerned, the top stumblers page generated on StumbleUpon website is just another marketing gimmick to force people into StumbleUpon. Thirdly, everybody knows that IF we stumble our own website regularly or else ask our friends to stumble the website regularly then the inflow of traffic keeps decreasing. At this stage not even a power stumbler account will help your website come out of this ditch.

Lastly, I won’t give my positive vote to a page just because I find out that it was submitted by some power user. If I find that page relevant then I give thumbs up to that page else hit the stumble button (and leave thumbs down for the creepy ones). Till now, the power user profile didn’t make any difference. So what is the summary? It was the content (the video, the image, or the text) which grabbed the stumbler’s attention and NOT the power user. It is just a matter of few positive votes and the page is on its way. The date of submission and the user who submitted that page hardly make any difference. All you need is the content which users will appreciate not the power user profile.

More Friends/Fans Means A Strong Profile

This was one more point which was picked up by most of the bloggers when StumbleUpon gained fame. Initially I was also with them but as of today I don’t think this makes any difference. Why would an algorithm backing a website of such a heavy caliber have such a creepy point? Anybody can end up pumping up his/her friend list just for the sake of a stronger StumbleUpon profile. StumbleUpon is about creating real friends who think like you not just for the sake of traffic.

Interesting Articles But Nothing New

We have read tons of articles that target the StumbleUpon readers and I must say, they are worth reading. These writers love to play with words and you end up reading the articles from sentence one till the end. But most of them bring forward the general points that almost everyone around us is familiar with. Nowhere will you find them talking about the real content. Everybody is busy targeting traffic and nobody is actually generating real content. Stop wasting time and gear up to write some articles which are actually appreciated by the StumbleUpon users.

Believe me, sticking to the roots is all you need to do so as to bring in StumbleUpon traffic which converts for the good.

Google Analytics might be a crazy tracking system for some webmasters but those who understand the basics of Google Analytics will be aware of the importance of Google Analytics for their blog/website. Polaris has created an awesome Google Analytics API using which you can enjoy the awesome Google Analytics report on your desktop on the fly. Polaris uses the freely available Adobe AIR so firstly you will have to install Adobe AIR for Polaris to start working.

Download Adobe AIR

Download Polaris

Once you are done downloading and installation of Adobe AIR and Polaris then all you need to do is study your Google Analytics Report from your desktop itself. Double click on the Polaris shortcut and you will be greeted with the medium sized Polaris Window which will ask for some of your details. Do opt for the free version as that is all what you will require. Once you are done with the basic info then you need to enter your Google Analytics login ID and password. Give this final detail and you will be greeted with the Google Analytics report for the very first website that is listed in your Google Analytics login account.

If you have multiple websites in your Google Analytics Login account and you want to get the Google Analytics report for the other website then just click on the currently shown website name as shown by the black arrow in the image above. You will be taken to the list of websites that you have listed in your Google Analytics account.

Select the website that you wish to track and click on select. Voila! You are now tracking another website which is listed in the same Google Analytics Login account. Enjoy the use of the Google Analytics API which will surely eat least time of yours. Lastly, if you have multiple Google Analytics Login accounts then you will have to pay the nominal fee of $15/year so as to use Polaris for multiple Google Analytics Login accounts.

Do you run a blog which is controlled by many authors? Are many writers writing for your blog? Do you feel like sharing your adsense revenue with them as per the impressions their articles are getting? Well, here we have a list of adsense revenue sharing plugins (and we will keep updating this post as we get to know about more such plugins) using which you can share adsense revenue with your multiple authors.

AdSense Revenue Sharing (Plugin Homepage)

This plugin uses a quicktag which helps in sharing adsense impressions with friends and with co-authors (in case of blogs). Authors can either use quick tagging button to display ads or else display the same ads within posts. Check the Option > Revenue Sharing page for the configuration settings.

Requires WordPress Version: 2.3 or higher

Compatible up to: 2.5.1

Author Advertising Plugin (Plugin Homepage)

This plugin works almost every advertising program that you can think of i.e. Google AdSense, Yahoo, Allposters, Amazon etc. Along with creating ad revenue sharing blog it can also be used for many other purposes like author photo/website widget etc. You can set the percentage of author adverts to admin adverts and also the user level after which he/she enters the revenue sharing program.

Requires WordPress Version: 2.3 or higher

Compatible up to: 2.7

Author Advertising Rewards

Though this plugin is still under development yet it could be used for the same purpose of sharing AdSense revenue. This plugin modifies the author page so that the author can insert their Slot ID and Publisher ID into the required areas thus registering for the revenue sharing programs. Check the Settings > Author Advertising Config page for all the details.

Requires WordPress Version: 2.5 or higher

Compatible up to: 2.7

Check the mobile version of my two blogs before you start rejoicing that I am about to tell you some secret. It is simple trick which I saw Amit using for Digital Inspiration. Thanks Amit.

CompuWorld goes mobile: m.nofullstop.com

theSenorita goes mobile: m.theSenorita.com

All you need to do is append your full feed URL next to the URL given below

http://www.google.com/reader/m/view/feed/http://feeds.feedburner.com/YourFeed

Got the idea? Like for this blog I will use the URL:

http://www.google.com/reader/m/view/feed/http://feeds.feedburner.com/webtechlog

And for my relationship management blog the Senorita I will use the URL:

http://www.google.com/reader/m/view/feed/http://feeds.feedburner.com/theSenorita

Now all you need to do is redirect your mobile URL to the above URL. So for this blog I redirected m.nofullstop.com to http://www.google.com/ reader/m/view/feed/ http://feeds.feedburner.com/webtechlog

Similar step applies for theSenorita.

Try it, it’s simple and helps those who read your blog in their mobiles.

I found a great article on OneMansGoal where Rosanne Lim (isn’t that a beautiful name?) points how bloggers commit the biggest mistake of assuming blogging to be their hobby and later on convert this hobby into their full time job. Avoid This!

Definition of hobby as per Google is:

avocation: an auxiliary activity

So you know what I want to point out? Hobby is something which you perform while you have some free time. You won’t ever be able to become a full time blogger IF you do not follow a time table. You will have to follow a scheduled path once you think you are ready to be a full time blogger just like you used to while you were working for some company.

You will be surprised how blogging becomes easy for you and you start saving lots of time which you can later be dedicate for publicity of your blog. All you need to do is do not make blogging as your hobby but as your profession. Be professional and you will be successful!

Otherwise all you will have in hands are promotional pens to make profits. Be a little serious.

Year 2007 was exciting with my blog CompuWorld completing 1 year. Something which I learned in the last one year was that the “Genius inside you might NOT be sleeping” (see my blogs punchline) but the knowledge thirsty Internet surfers DO NOT know your genius. Yes! You might be writing unique articles but are there people who are reading your articles? I remember the days when I used to check the MyBlogLog’s visitor stats for my blog after every hour just to see the number increase by 5 or 10. That is when I started dedicating more time in publicizing my content instead of writing the content.

Here goes the list of points which can help you explode your blog’s traffic by huge numbers. You just need to be consistent. Remember that here I am considering that you are already generating quality content.

Proof Reading Is A Must

Be it the new readers or the regular readers, no one would like to see regular grammar mistakes in your articles. The regular reader might come back to your blog (considering he knows your habit of delivering quality content) but the chances of the new reader coming back are very less (until Google search or link from some other blog sends him/her to your blog). Keep in mind: “First impression is the last impression.”

Email Other Bloggers About Your Niche, Your Articles

Once you have written a high quality article which gets some appreciation (mostly in comments) than write a decent and short email to bloggers from the same niche and inform them about your article.

Once I wrote to MakeUseOf about one of my article which was getting much appreciation from readers in comments and they were generous to link back to my article within a day. My blog earned huge traffic from there blog for few days.

Comment Regularly On Other Blogs

Some time back Caroline did the October stat analysis for her blog. One major point in that analysis was the huge amount of traffic which she earned from the comments which she left on other blogs.

When you leave an insightful comment on other blogs than the author (and few readers) of that blog will come back to your blog to know more about you. This is dedicated traffic. I say dedicated because the reader was impressed from your comment and came to your blog. There are high chances that he/she will subscribe to your feeds.

Do Some Guest Posting

If you can write quality articles than do guest posting on few of the famous and same niche blogs. Once again emailing them your post with a generous request to publish your post on there blog can very well do the job. You are bound to get huge traffic from that blog.

Review A Product And Ask The Company To Feature That Review In Press Section In Their Website

If your review is good and the company writes about that review in there press release with a link back to your blog than this will turn into regular traffic for your blog. Plus your blog will become known amongst few biggies of that company.

Write About Celebrities (relate that to your niche) And See The Jump In Traffic

Once I wrote about Jessica Alba’s gaming habit and that one article gave me around 2000+ views only from stumbleupon.

Try to relate the celebrity news to your niche and publish such articles in regular intervals. This brings in many new readers and is appreciated by almost all of them!

Many Newspapers Are Writing About Bloggers. Contact Them

Almost every newspaper keeps mentioning about the new buzz word “blogging”. Contact few in your locality and explain to them about your strength. Face to face interaction can have a great affect on the person listening. Be honest to them.

Get Some Stickers/T-Shirts

Get some fancy stickers and paste them in Internet cafes, libraries etc. These are hot spots for information hungry humans. Once people read them regularly than your brand name gets stuck-up in there minds and they will check your blog at-least once.

Get some T-Shirts with your blog URL printed along with some attractive image (may be your logo) and wear them in public occasions. People around you will be curious to know the details.

Regularly Link To Other Blogs And Relate Your Articles To Their Articles

Once you link to other bloggers they are likely to see those links in pingbacks and will come to your blog for more information.

Get A Keyword Rich Domain Name, An Effective Punch Line, A Nice Logo And A Attractive Blog Design

They all matter a lot so do NOT overlook their importance.

A keyword rich domain name (which is easy to remember too) will get listed on the top pages in SERPs and hence bring in traffic.

An effective punch line which forces the reader to read your blog might well bring in traffic once the line creates the necessary buzz.

An attractive logo (like that of ShoeMoney) is enough to create the buzz and bring in few readers.

Get a new design for your blog and email everyone about your new design. People are bound to see the new design once and leave a comment during that visit. Many will subscribe to your feeds.

Create Videos Regularly

Darren of problogger regularly creates video tutorials and this practice of his has give him dedicated readers (including me) who eagerly wait for the new videos to be released. All this helps you create the buzz for your blog.

Write Some “Top 20 Bloggers” Type Of Articles

Choose a niche, compare the various rankings (technorati, alexa etc) for those niche blogs, create a ranking system and publish those ranks in your blog with a link back to those bloggers. Email those bloggers about there rank and you are bound to get a link back from them. They will “boast” about there rank and in that process link back to you.

Talk Negative (in comments, forums, social networking sites etc.)

This is very helpful in bringing in traffic in loops. People come back again and again to your blog to clarify the negative point, inform you that you are wrong and in that process they somehow become used to coming back to your blog.

Try to leave negative comments on some famous blogs and see the retaliation.

Participate Regularly In Social Networking Sites, Forums And Yahoo Answers

Join groups related to your niche in various social networking websites and participate in the discussions. In the process leave links to few of your articles (and relate those to the ongoing discussion) and you will see people coming back to your articles and your article might well become an important part of that discussion.

Participate in various forums and include your blog link in your signature. When you are active than people will click on those links and may be subscribe to your feeds.

Yahoo answers is a great place to earn some dedicated traffic. Regularly answer the queries of people in yahoo answers and leave links to your blog. Once you start doing it regularly people might subscribe to your feeds considering that your answers help them.

Content is the king but unless people do not know about the king, how will you construct your kingdom?

Subscribe to my feeds for more such exciting articles.

When your flow with blogging gets going, when you start giving “less” time to your blog because you have a time table set, when you start enjoying your writing skills and when you feel like you need a little more money to invest in your blog’s success you must start looking for some freelance writing work.

One way to earn freelancing job is to constantly read popular job boards like problogger’s job board, freelance switch job board, bloggerjobs.biz and performancing job board. The advantage here is that these job boards (specially the problogger’s job board) are very famous in the blogosphere and the jobs which are offered here are quality jobs. If you earn job from these than you might start earning good bucks very quickly. From $5 per post to $10 per post or even more. It depends on your articles which you can deliver.

The problem which these kind of jobs have is that you need to be consistent writer in these jobs. And for a blogger who wants to daily update his/her blog, it is tough to maintain the acceleration in more than one place. One more problem which I felt many times was after completing the article I used to have the feeling “why not keep the article for my own blog?” The quality used to be good many times and I never wanted to give the article away .

Keeping aside the hard feelings with your articles (when you have to give them away to other blogs) I here have a solution here for the first problem. You will never have to worry about delivering constant posts with a strict schedule and thus you might than easily concentrate on your blog, write extra articles and make some bucks!

Associated Content is the place to earn some money without following any schedule. You can choose to submit text, video else audio content for money. Make sure you read and follow their submission guidelines else there are many chances that your articles will be rejected and won’t ever get published. Before you submit any articles better search for the topic in there search box and see if there are already many articles related to your content. If that is the case than you must edit your article and deliver more unique content so that your article is easily accepted and published.

AC’s payment system promises $1.50 per 1000 views and that might feel to be less initially, but once you publish you will know that it isn’t the case. The traffic which AC has is huge and your article is bound to get the traffic which you deserve.

Go and start earning money at Associated Content

In last few days I have been receiving huge traffic for my homepage and the credit goes to the generous stumble upon users who gave thumbs-up votes to my blog’s homepage in regular intervals. Few days back Caroline wrote why she thanks the stumblers who stumble her blog and after 2 days she was there writing an article about the kind of abusive response which she received from few people on the idea of thanking (even though I appreciate the idea of thanking those who like your content..common sense!)

In last 2-3 days I have earned around 8 thumps-up for my homepage and the traffic has been proportional. So I thought why not link back to those who have stumbled my blog instead of filling there message box in there stumble upon account.

So why should you thank your stumblers?

More thumps-up votes you get for your blog, proportionally more traffic you get from stumble upon. But thumps-down could result in killing of traffic too, so better have good content before thinking about stumble upon traffic.

Moreover thanking the people who appreciate your blog means making friends online which are bound to bring in ‘word of mouth’ publicity for your blog.

Summary

Instead of messaging the people who stumble your blog better send them some link love. They will appreciate it. Atleast I would if someone links to my blog

So here goes the list of people who recently stumbled my blog’s homepage and some articles.

Liz Strauss at Successful Blog(ers)

Liz is one of those few rare bloggers who actually deliver original content instead of following the normal copy paste stuff. It is always fun reading her blog and I thank her for stumbling my articles whenever they are worth.

Fatgadget at Gadgettastic

Gadgettastic is a upcoming technology blog with fluent writing skills and ofcourse great content. His 250+ feed subscribers are the proof for his quality content.

Funny Pictures

This one has some real cool funny pictures and I will surely be using few of its images in my CompuFun section in coming Fridays.
