A small cookie sign will show up on that tab and then you are all set to open another instance of your gmail account or any other account in firefox without any problems.

After all its IE that creates problems with websites not firefox. This firefox extension is a must download for you if you don’t have the habit of watching the URL before clicking any link on the webpage. There are chances when you will be redirected to the yahoo mail login page which will look exactly like yahoo mail login page but originally it would be hosted on some other domain. This is done to gain access to your id and password. The best way to avoid this is to watch the domain carefully everytime before you click any link on that page.

To make things simpler you can use Location Bar which changes the color of the domain (especially the homepage link) thus making it easy for you to recognize the domain.
