How many times has it happened that you opened a website, found something important in it and thought of revisiting the page to read (or use) the same later on? Most of the times we do land up on the same website once again but we tend to forget whatever we had liked the last time when we had visited the same page. We tend to forget the thoughts (or ideas) that we had discovered due to that web page the last time we visited it. This is when the concept of sticky notes for windows pops in and works out well.

XSticky is a one happening Firefox add-on that helps you add a sticky note for windows to any part of the webpage. Once you later visit that page then you will find the same sticky note on the same position henceforth it will help you remember whatever had struck you the last time when you had visited the same page. This works out well on Firefox only. Download XSticky from Firefox here.

In case you are using Google’s Chrome then you can you this extension to add sticky notes from within the browser but you won’t be able to add sticky notes onto a webpage. The sticky node will be added on the browser level and it will be the same for any webpage that you will open. You can properly write down points that you think you might forget along with the respective URL but remember that a lot of data might become confusing so perform your cleanup at regular intervals.

Whenever we download any PDF file using Internet Explorer or Firefox then the PDF file directly opens inside the browser and we start reading directly from our browsers. ePub is a famous open source file format for eBooks but at times it isn’t supported by most of the browsers. Once you install ePUBReader add-on for firefox then even the ePub files when download using firefox directly open inside the browser instead of you being asked to save them somewhere. If you have already download many ePub files and want to read them then you can read them from Firefox once this is installed. All that you need to do is open those files using Firefox and you are good to go.

All that this add-on does is uncompress the zipped ePub compression and display the necessary file contents via Firefox browser. Remember that all the eBooks will be directly saved in your Firefox profile under a particular sub directory.

Do read our complete guide to ePub file format.

Gmail Manager is that FireFox extension which will allow you to manage multiple Gmail accounts simultaneously. It displays your account details including unread messages, saved drafts, spam messages, labels with new mail, space used, and new mail snippets.

Although you can always use Google Chrome to open multiple instances of gmail at a time and you can always use my tiny trick to log into multiple instances of gtalk but if you are firefox crazy then you will surely want to open multiple instances of gmail from your firefox browser itself.

All you need to do after installing this freeware extension is to toggle CookiePie for a tab on which you want to open new instance of Gmail or any other mail. A small cookie sign will show up on that tab and then you are all set to open another instance of your gmail account or any other account in firefox without any problems.

I guess, this is by the easiest way to open multiple instances of any account like facebook etc. at a time as per our comfort without troubling firefox.

After all its IE that creates problems with websites not firefox. Similarly this extension will help those Internet sufers who love firefox but constantly stumble on sites which they have to visit regularly but the problem is that those websites aren’t compatible with firefox. Like the website which I use to check my monthy broadband download limits works only with IE. This plugin works best for me.

Once installed then users can open some pages in IE with the help of a single right click or they can set some pages to directly open up in IE by default.

This firefox extension is a must download for you if you don’t have the habit of watching the URL before clicking any link on the webpage. There are chances when you will be redirected to the yahoo mail login page which will look exactly like yahoo mail login page but originally it would be hosted on some other domain. This is done to gain access to your id and password. The best way to avoid this is to watch the domain carefully everytime before you click any link on that page.

To make things simpler you can use Location Bar which changes the color of the domain (especially the homepage link) thus making it easy for you to recognize the domain.

You might have faced situations where you clicked on some link which was covered with a Tiny URL and it took you to some website which delivered unwanted virus to your computer. In a nutshell, the covered link took you to a fishing site. To avoid this it is recommended that you check where the Tiny URL link takes you and then take the step two.

For those not using firefox, check the Long URL home page and you will know what you have to do so as to know the Long URL of the shorter version. And those who use firefox can install LongURL Mobile Expander plugin and when you will hover over the Tiny URL then it will display the longer version as shown in the image above.

Download LongURL Mobile Expander

Note: This addon helps in cases when a lengthy URL has been hidden by using the unique feature of Tiny URL. [Thanks lediable44 for pointing that newbies might not understand the real use that clearly]

If you share your computer with someone elder than you then I am sure you would find it hard to surf some secret websites of yours just because you might get caught and stripped off the daily Internet access facility!

For people like you, I have a pretty neat solution. All you will need is firefox (no Internet Explorer please) and this extension installed.

Once installed successfully then you get array of options which you can customize as per your ease to hide your surfing experiences from the rest of the users of that computer. How about something crazy this night?

Opera has a speed dial feature using which you can access your favorite website with just a single mouse click. Although firefox won’t let you do that by default but their are plenty of firefox extensions to help you out. The most used extension to add the speed dial feature to firefox is Speed Dial itself.

Once installed, every new tab which you open will look like what you see in the image above. I have edited the nine speed dial options and added my favorite websites to them. Once you install the extension then you get two buttons in the toolbar (see the red arrow in imagea above?) using which you can access your speed dial websites or set some website to speed dial using. When you click on ‘set speed dial’ button then you get an edit window like the one shown below.

Download Speed Dial
