Haven’t you read multiple articles that guaranty that they will teach you ‘How To Delete Internet Explorer History’ but every time the URLs you visit seem to pop back in from somewhere. You just aren’t able to get rid of your browsing history and your secret surfing habits! Well, the reason is simple. Microsoft windows is designed to combine its history with Windows Desktop Search. Henceforth, even when you delete your Internet Explorer history then too your desktop search keeps the track of your past moves and this is how IE also keeps a track of the same. Somehow it just cannot forget your history even when you want it to.

See the image above? It is the solution for all your problems. While the Internet Explorer is opened go to Tools > Internet Options > Content tab > Settings button in AutoComplete section. Uncheck “Use Windows Search for better results” checkbox and you are done. Now once you delete Internet Explorer history (using Delete button in Browsing History section of General tab in Internet Options window) then it won’t ever come back. Never!

You must have faced situations where some crappy website would have changed your default home page in Internet Explorer to their own home page. Such websites are mostly full of spyware programs and their main purpose is to stuff your computer with spyware which will gather important data and send it to the person behind those websites.

To stop such activities either you can manually check the default home page to the one that you prefer after every site that you visit or else you can use this little trick.

Right Click on the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop and then click “Properties”. Now in the target field the text which you will find is:

“F:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE”

All you need to do is append the URL which you want to be your default home page in Internet Explorer. Like if I want this blog of mine to be my default home page then all that I will do is add www.nofullstop.com to the above URL (with a space between the two). Finally it will look something like this:

“F:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE” www.nofullstop.com

Now the entry in Home Page section of Options window will be overridden and hence even if some website changes the default home page of yours still your home page will remain what you actually want it to be.

You must have seen Internet Explorer displaying a default hompage in your office network and many times in your own home computer. Although you can change the default homepage using Internet Options from Tools menu but what to do when Internet Options is disabled?

This is the time when you can use this registry hack to to change the default homepage for Internet Explorer 6 or Internet Explorer 7.

The path to registry key for this is:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Main]
“Start Page”=”http://www.nofullstop.com/”

For those who do not know how to open registry here are the easy steps:

Click on Start button.

Click on Run. This will open Run dialog box.

In the Run dialog box type regedit and hit enter. The registry window will open up.

Now you can follow the above mentioned path from the left pane of the registry window: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Internet Explorer > Main

Now in right pane you can change the value of Start Page to the homepage of your choice.

Everyone knows the extent to which one can customize firefox browser for better Internet surfing experiences (and if don’t than dude visit our firefox tips for a small hint). Considering the importance of browser marker over the Internet Microsoft has recently made available an updated version of Internet Explorer Administration Kit 7 for FREE download.

“You can preset the following Web pages and links: customer support page; users’ home page; users’ search providers; links in the Links bar, in the Favorites bar, to Explorer Bars; Add-on Components page (for optional components). You can also customize the appearance of the browser software so that your organization’s content is more prominent when the user browses the Internet”, Microsoft informed.

IEAK7 is delivered in an array of flavors, coming in no less than 24 different languages. Microsoft informed that the administration kit offers support for Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1; Windows Vista and Windows XP Service Pack 2. Essentially, IEAK7 is designed to deliver users with control over the deployment and management process inherently associated with web-based solutions. Microsoft is of course betting on the fact that users will welcome the opportunity to personalize the installations of Internet Explorer 7, tailorfitting the browser to specific environments via branding, platform requirements, additional information across the title bar, and handle add-ons and custom browser packages.
