Yesterday my friend asked me about some alternative for Nero as he was facing some problems with his current installation of Nero and I was dumbstruck! I didn’t expect that someday I will be talking about Microsoft and create commons license in one single blog post but I guess Microsoft is that company which loves to surprise everybody. Microsoft is offering an add-in for MS Office using which you can tag your MS Office documents with create commons license. Ever wondered about the idea of using your mobile phone as a remote control for your computer? To start using mobile with remote control you will require a mobile with bluetooth and a computer which has bluetooth feature inbuilt. Then you will have to download a client and a server application from mobilewitch.com. The client will be installed in your mobile while the server goes into the computer which you need to control.

Once you are done with the installation then you need to follow the steps below:

STEP 1:

Start the PC Server Application. You will see something similar to what is shown in screenshot below:

STEP 2:

Now start the client which is installed in your mobile. If you are using a NOKIA phone then you will find the application under Menu > Applications > Collection. The application will automatically start searching for various servers around.

Once the connection is successfully established then you will be able to access the Mobile Witch Bluetooth remote control menu from your phone.

From this menu you can control keyboard, mouse pointer, and the applications namely: Windows Explorer, Media Player, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Powerpoint and Winamp. 

Note: Each application that you want to control first needs to be manually started on the computer and then it must stay on top of the desktop if you want it to be controlled from the mouse.

Firstly you need to download the tiny utility namely NirCmd and extract the zip file somewhere in your computer. It’s recommended to copy the executable of NirCmd (nircmd.exe) to your windows directory, or to any other folder listed in your PATH environment variable, so you won’t need to type the full path of nircmd in each time that you want to use it. If you do not copy it in the above mentioned place then you will have to mention the exact location of nircmd.exe file while creating this shortcut. Once you are done with downloading and the optional saving in windows directory then it is time to follow the easy steps mentioned below:

Right click on desktop and from the New menu select shortcut so as to create a new shortcut.

Now enter the path of nircmd.exe utility as shown below. You can type nircmd.exe ONLY if you have saved the utility in your windows directory as mentioned in the first para of this article.

Now copy the text show below next to nircmd.exe and hit next so as to create desktop shortcut for speaking the text currently in clipboard.

Now you can move the shortcut icon anywhere in your computer. Whenever your double click on it then windows (XP/VISTA) speaks the exact test that is in the clipboard.
